Now that I have your undivided attention...I would like to call to question a ToD Rule that is ambiguous in my opinion.

In the Rules post, it states:

5: No proning and spawn camping / firing into spawn.

What exactly is the intention of this rule for ToD? Does this mean to say that I CAN spawn camp as long as I am NOT prone or was your original intention to eliminate all and every spawn camp? Also, does your server intend to ban proning? I just think that there is a need to re-address and clarify the intentions of ToD for the better of the community and to eliminate avoidable disputes.

As an related aside and standing as an opinion of my own --

I think that spawn camping is crappy in a pub setting and will always attempt not to do so in public. However, there are rights to spawn camping when in the case for a flag cap near spawn. If your rules intend to call for no spawn camping, even in the case of cap, you should talk with one of your admins. The other day, one of them was capping a one flag near our spawn, and that person chose to fire upon our exits. The claim was that the player was retreating from the cap and therefore, it was legal. If the admins are not setting a fair example then how can expect your players to follow.

Finally, this post was not intended to remove people from ToD or bashing on ToD. This thread should merely function as a request for a clarification in the rules of the server and the necessary support for its scrutiny.

And what happened to rule 6? It must be the "x-factor."

Example: Railroad, Allies #2 Flag.

IMO

If you are running through to capture the flag and people are exiting spawn and shooting you may shoot back.

You may not setup a mg or sniper
in the railcar and shoot directly into spawn not even to hold the flag.

If you want to setup behind the mound and shoot across the flag towards the hole in the wall to the sniper nest that is fine.

We left the rules a little grey as the maps differ. The admins are in charge if they want it slightly different they will tell you.

My thoughts, especially on a map like Railroad, were that if you
collectively were making a push for the Allied/Axis one, picking guys off as they come out is fine.

If, on the other hand, your team does not even posses
the fountain and you're set up racking up kills...you should be
warned and or kicked.

I might let slide the holding the last flag issue IF your team is working on a last flag to full cap.

I do know that opinions differ greatly on the subject including some taking a "never ever" stance.

I've seen a whole different side to the spawn issue while playing in the two or three CAL style scrims where it is not only acceptable but you really must do it at times to win.

Being a pub, that is not even close to being acceptable.

In league play, spawn camping is needing. In a pub, its frowned upon. I usually try to avoid going near spawn points at all, because my fingers start itching.

I am, however, of the firm opinion that if I happen to be near a spawn, and someone shoots at me from their spawn exit, that I am completely justified in shooting them in the face.

I understand your concern amarok, and I agree that it is a gray rule, but I think we kinda set it that way on purpose as different maps call for different tactics. For example, rennes_b2 it is almost impossible to open up without shooting in/around spawn where as a big map like campaigne there should never be any shooting in anyones spawn because of their locations compared to the flag caps.

My statement would be don't set up an mg or sniper covering the opposing spawn, I have little - no tolerance for it because like others have said, this is a pub server, it's not necessary.

(If the admin that is in game doesn't have a problem with it then by all means go for it, those of us who do have a problem with it will warn you before any further action.)


Of course, the main purpose for my reply is to inform you that you now owe all of us a drink and a stripper due to your misleading title for the thread. ;D

I'm kinda torn on this one sometimes. I would think it's ok say for the railroad map because there are two exits from the spawn and you can always exit from the other side. Now if both are being camped then you have a problem. But that's just the way I feel, because those flags are so close to spawn it's hard to cap them without guarding one.
