Now see Wulf, why take a cheap shot in a thread that you are seemingly sincere in? Maybe it is your sense of humor, but I'm not sure many found it real "funny". You call out the guy, he responds and then you take a lame shot at him. I guess I don't get it. That wasn't an attempt at a cheap shot, I was just hoping for some readable responses. Sorry, I won't mention the issue again. I'll read whatever however, and respond to it. Hodgie, I apologize if you found that offensive. It was not intended as such. In response to jump, the multiple times i've tried to garnish some tips onto the community, I am met with severe resistance. Apparantly, whenever you are decent at the game, and you try to give tips to someone who hasn't leagued before, they get all hostile. I'll give an example, and I hope that no-one takes offense at this, because this is the only example I can think of offhand that anyone would remember. I entered the server, must have been about a week/two weeks ago, game was on switch. As I joined the game on axis, i was having to wait on a respawn timer so I could start fragging. Saw Trinity attempt a noscope, tried to give her a tip about throwing her shot a few yards past the enemy in a snapshot situation like she attempted, and she replied with something along the lines of "so now you're teaching me how to play?" I will be more than happy[/i] to help improve anyones game, as making people better not only allows me to help the community, but it also helps build up the competition. Please let me know where I can help in this regard. In response to your domination concern, I can certainly see where that would be an issue with many regulars of the server. I have never intentionally cleared out the server.I will say that straight up. I have never got online, with the sole purpose of ruining everyone else's day, despite what people may think. Usually, if we're going to pub on the server, we'll split the Bobbert spread to make sure things are even. The only time i've ever stacked one side was when the opposing side was talking smack, and needed to be punted around a little with some good old fashioned killing. I am very happy to see so many concerns be voiced. I hope we can clear them all at to the mutual benefit of everyone involved.

So what are we boiling this thing down to? Perception vs. Reality? A great disparity in senses of humor? What?
Some things probably will not be able to be remedied! If you can dish some intended good natured ribbing...you bess be ready to take some! I don't want to have to dance around every single persons feelings as I'm sure nobody else does! On the other hand I do know most of my close compadres personalities and how far is appropriate to take our insults, jokes and jabs. Maybe that's the best we'll be able to do.
I do know that a factor is booze!!! Maybe we need a Breathalyzer to log on to TOD?! ;D
Seriously, a little discretion here could go a long way towards the improvement of the community. We all seem to be fairly bright folks. It shouldn't be too tough to muster up a little more courtesy.

First off thank you Atomic, I have refrained from posting in this thread in fear of taking it too far, Yes I have been on the upset side of this thread since I last posted and due to that, kept my fingers from it so I wouldnt lash out.
Wulf, when you did say soemthing to me server side about sniping, I said "Please don't tell me how to play...its just a game" I remember it clearly because I wasnt in the mood for really much of anything cept shooting and dieing. SO if that offended you, Sorry, it wasnt meant to offend anyone.
When I am having a "bad day" I try my best to keep my mouth shut on the server. At times it doesnt work, but hey Im only human, and clearly everyone here by now knows Im a woman and we pride ourselves on speaking our minds wether its liked or not.
Hodgie has stated to me (more then once now) that he is done posting. Since he cant seem to do this proper (or to the liking of others) he will not log in and post. SO dont be surprised to see me typing in something he said.
As for the drinking comments, I think Hodgie is like most men, they dont accept their limit, they try to beat it as if it was a game. (some admit it and some dont). This being my oppenion and NOT meant to offend any of the male species here on this forum.
Im going to skip all the rest of what I had planned to type. Im going to stop "feeding the fire" so to say. From here on out I will not bobbert bash (even though some of it was fun). This should keep the lasinig out to a min.
My honest advice (anyone here can take it or leave it, its not meant to offend anyone either) is before you do or say something on the server/forums. Please think about how you would feel if it was said to you. As the saying goes "walk a mile in their shoes".
I am going to take my own advice (as stated above) and Hodgie has stated he will put forth an effort on controling himself a bit more.
That being said, I doubt this will ever come to a conclusion, unless the people involved can put aside their human faults/differances and play the game as it was intended.

First thing i have to say, D.O.D. is a GAME! People need to remember that, if your not having fun dont play. Some people take everything so serius and get so charged up they make it hard for other people to enjoy, if you want to be that way then maybe you should just play in tounaments and stay off public servers, not directed at bobberts, but everyone. Treat people the way you want to be treated, if everyone did that then we wouldnt be having this problem--right! Remember you are entering other peoples homes, use respect and common sence ,I dont like my children being subjected to this kind of behavior, I am sure other people feel the same way. I agree name calling shouldnt happen, we all have different skill levels, Just do your best and enjoy the game.
Now other issues, If you cant control your drinking and your mouth then dont use both at the same time. I have found this to be a problem more then once. I personally dont drink and I dont care if other people do our not, but control your mouth and temper, when you dont, it makes you look like a fool.
Be adults, be respectfull, have fun. Thats what gaming is all about, and remember kids do play to, if someone acted like that in front of your children how would you feel? I know I dont like it and if i witness it ill kick whoever is doing it. Dissrespectfull people aggravate me. So everyone grow up and get along so we can enjoy playing the game

If you can dish some intended good natured ribbing...you best be ready to take some. I do know that a factor is booze!!! Maybe we need a Breathalyzer to log on to TOD?! ;D The Bobbert's always have been able to both dish and take ribbing, jives, honkies, two-tones, jokes, insults, ensuations about our respective mothers, and other such assorted humdrum. This whole thing started whenever the bashing turned into cursing, screaming, and hatred. If we can fix that, I don't really see any other problems. The only thing that worries me is that no-one on the opposite side of the fence will discuss what is eating at them. I do not honestly believe that because I alias, or make some shots that you don't find credible, that you would resort to Jerry Springer insult levels. So either everyone needs to say whats really bothering them, or there needs to be a two drink limit and we can all hide our feelings like good boys.

So when I was in the server the other night, everybody was getting along and playing just fine...isn't that good enough for you? First you say you can't read his post, then you get on his case for not posting...christ, kid know when to quit btw slim, I thought it was freaking hilarious that you put "humor" in quotation marks, LMAO. nice.

Aww christ. And here i was hoping this post would have died already. Anyway
Looky here folks, it may not be what your saying but its how im seeing it. Seems everyone thinks we cant take a good bashing, this is incorrect. I personally dont care if you swear me up and down and call me a chicken shit, im just tired of accusations all the damn time, thats it.
And the funny thing about this? I can still get on and greet everyone, and still get ignored, which is fine, if you dont want to talk to me, then so be, but dont think its going to help matters much, im not going anywhere. That is if i dont get banned first.
And for all of you non-believers, i extend the invitation to join us on our Vent server, and come scrim against some of these teams ive had to put up with, then you will all see exactly how bad we are. And if you decline to open your eyes, then shut your mouth.
Thank you all for your time in this matter, Hugs & Kisses, Exeter.

Well I don't know if we are going anywhere with this thread so I'll summarize it. 1. Cursing, screaming, and hatred will not be tolerated from any clan or non-clan member. 2. If you can dish some intended good natured ribbing...you bess be ready to take some! 3. D.O.D. is a GAME! People need to remember that, if your not having fun dont play 4. Be adults, be respectfull, have fun. 5. No cheating accusations on the server or forum. Send a pm to an admin and it will be looked into. Really try to have proof. 6. Each and every player is a GUEST on the owner's server and should act as such. It's ok to complain about some things, but you should never disrupt the gameplay or publicly complain about how the server is run/maintained 7. Brush is a sick person FYI We have completed the server rules. We will post them on the forum this wk and hopefully get them on the server during Christmas break. Everyone be safe and have a Merry Christmas.

I'm going to add my two cents. Take what you will from it.
Firstly, this past Saturday I had a few pints (no excuse, but that's the case anyhow) and after some frustration changed my name to "Bobbert Stinks". This was childish/inappropriate and I apologize for that.
I have no problems with anyone being very good at the game. The Bobberts are hella good. So much so that I try to avoid them when playing. Cause I know that getting caught in the open in front of one of those fellows is a death sentence.
What has angered me at times is the really bad attitude that some Bobbert members seem to have. I've seen trash talking and comments made to people who have never given me any problems (mind you I don't present much of a threat). If this is good natured ribbing, it sure hasn't seemed that way to me. There was an incident (I'm sorry I can't recall the date)in which I think Sinz was justified in kicking one of the Bobberts. This launched some others into expletive laden tirades and Sinz had to kick them as well. I believe Exeter had to ask some of his own members to tone it down.
This particular episode really affected how I felt about the Bobberts and I've seen shades of this at other times. I'm going to be blunt here and state that in my perception (right or wrong) a lot (not all) of these guys are punks who don't give a rats ass and might be better suited to a less community oriented server.
As I've stated this is what I have observed. I could be way off. Please feel free to rebut and/or dis-abuse me of my notions.

Mcshizz my friend, i respect your observation. As for the incident, that was Wind and he isnt really part of the group, and dont worry, i hate him far more than any of you.
As for punks who dont care, your opinion is entitled to you, and though i feel it is unjustifed, that is my opinion. So we can work it out if you'd like, and have a good buttstock war in the alleys of Caen..
Also, good to see Fizban, thought your were dead man.

I'm not sure any one group has the market cornered on punkishness! (is that a word?) Sometimes, guys ribbings will seem a bit mean spirited but again I can't pin that to one particular group. Often we get just a flat out A-hole who wants nothing more than to destroy EVERYONES fun.
What we may have is more of a generational gap. Heck, I'm old enough to be most Bobberts old man!!! This server has pre-teen players right up to a few guys who are 64 years old! That in itself could explain some of the notion of being picked on, dissed (I picked that one up) and misunderstood. Humor and catchy phrases evolve over the years. But keep in mind...the server has really become a refuge for older guys! That in no means should discourage ANYONE from playing here. Just be mindful of that fact.
Most importantly we've heard Hodgie and Wulf say they'd try harder to be more respectful to each other. I appreciate that from them and suggest that we all put that into practice while in game. We really do know when we may have crossed the line and once recognized we should back off a bit.
We can leave this open for a bit and hopefully lock it down when things settle. Feel free to add anything productive, but I for one think "bashing time" is over.
