I recently decided to get my feet wet and try my hand at map making. I've had some ideas for a map, but lacked any know-how in constructing them. So, to educate myself, I dove in and created a map called simply dod_outdoors_v2.
I'll start by saying, this is not, by any means, the map that still sits in the back of my mind to create, but was a learning lesson for me. I figured nothing would transpire until I got off my tail and immersed myself a bit into Valve Hammer. That having been said, I introduced to the Weary Soldier's Haven server dod_outdoors, and that evolved into dod_outdoors_v2 through the input of many of the TDC gang and others. I've had good comments on it, and it's actually a simple design, with pretty even-sided gameplay. Simply put, it's a 5 flag map with the "Hill Top" location being a 2-man cap. There's plenty of cover area, and there are open areas. It's not a large map, and can be quite lively gameplay.
I've added it to the rotation on WSH, so you're welcome to check it out at anytime. I've sent Beek a copy to review and who knows maybe he can add it to WOK or to The Lost Soldier's server. This does not mean that he WILL add it, I leave it simply to his discretion. Maybe your own input, after checking it out on WSH might determine its fate.
